Australia’s Electricity Prices To Fall

After two years of huge increases, the cost of electricity is set to fall by as much as 10 per cent.

The default market offer is the maximum price that can be charged for electricity by retailers.

From July 1, default offers for residential customers are set to decrease by 1.9 per cent to 3 per cent in Sydney, Central Coast, and Hunter Valley. Further, default offers for small businesses will decrease by 9.7 per cent.

In South Australia, offers are set to fall 2.5 per cent for residential and 8.7 per cent for businesses.

Offers will increase by 0.9 per cent for customers in regional NSW, and by 2.7 per cent in south-east Queensland.

In Victoria, default offer reductions of 6.4 per cent have been proposed.
